Nellore is one of the major city and district place of Andhra Pradesh, located on bank of River Penna, 175 kms far from Chennai and 380 kms from Bangalore. Nellore is combination of two Tamil word Nel – means Paddy and Ooru – means place, Nellore is also head quarter of Sri Potti Sri Ramulu Nellore District. Nellore is historical place of India and mentioned over various spiritual texts. It was ruled by various great ruler like Mauryas, Satavahanas, Cholas, Pallavas, Pandyas, Kharavela of Chedi dynasty, Kakatiyas, Eastern Gangas of Kalinga Empire, Vijayanagara Empire etc. The district was known as Vikrama Simhapuri until 13th Century and later on it referred to as Nellore.

Sri Ranganthaswamy Temple also popular as Talpagiri Ranganathaswami temple or Ranganayakulu, dedicated to Lord Ranganatha a resting form of Lord Vishnu is one of the main and oldest religious place in Nellore which attracts huge number of Devotee around the year. Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy kamakshi tai temple, Narasimhakonda, Penchalakona, Ramalingeswara Temple etc. are other major temple of Nellore.
