Tirupati, the well-known city and major pilgrimage destination of India is located in Chittoor district of the Andhra Pradesh nearby Tirumala hills, sometime popular in devotee as Tirumala. It is world famous for shrine of Tirumala Venkateswara Temple or Tirupati Balaji Temple or Tirumala Temple or Balaji Temple of supreme Lord Shri Vishnu around 22 km from Tirupati and other historic temples, thus also famous as Spiritual Capital and heritage city of Andhra Pradesh.

Tirumala, adobe of Sri Venkateswara is one of the most visited pilgrimage centers and richest temple of India with millions of devotees every year. Thus Tirupati becomes the hub for religious tourism for Hinduism with all required facilities for accommodation, transport and food. Tirumala Temple is located on top of the Tirumala Hills which consists of seven peaks popular as Sapthagiri at of height 3,200 feet. The seven peaks is symbol of the seven hoods of Adishesha, where Lord Vishnu resides.

Tirupati is ancient sacred place mentioned in Purana and attached with lots of historical tales. As per Varaha Purana, Lord Shri Ram resided here along with Ma Devi Sita and Lakshmana on his return from Lanka. The city became famous Vaishnava centre during the time of great Acharya Shri Ramanujacharya in 11th century and till date it kept as importance as during the ancient time.

Along with pilgrimage center of South India, Tirupati is emerged as business hub of Andhra Pradesh. Almost all the automobile, electrical, textile, mobile and electronic companies set up their outlets in Tirupati. Lots of Sugar mills, pharmaceutical and cement factories are founded by various business tycoons.
