Balligavi, the historical town of Shivamogga district of Karnataka, India is well known in surrounding area for its ancient monuments and area of interest for Archaeological Survey of India. The history of Balligavi found dated back to 4-5th century Satavahana-Kadamba era and the Golden Age was in the 10-12th century during the Chalukya ruler. Bellagavi is famous for its ancient temple like Kedareswara and Tripurantakesvara Temple, dated back to 10-11th century. It is said that Balligavi was the best place of learning and spirituality.
