Vairavapatti is the small village in the Tirupattur taluka of Sivaganga district, Tamil Nadu, India, located at just 8 km from Tirupattur and around 40 km from Sivaganga. Though it’s a small village but major pilgrimage destination of Tamil Nadu and South India as it is home to popular temple Vairavanswamy Temple of Lord Shiva. The name of the village derives from the temple dedicated to Lord Kala Bhairava – in Tamil language known as Vairavan. This temple is the third-largest Shiva temple managed by the Nagarathar Chettiars of the Chettinad region. The presiding deity here is Lord Valaroli Nathar and his consort Vadivudai Ammai. Lord Shiva worshipped here in form of Lord Kala Bhairavar. At just two km from Vairavapatti, another major pilgrimage destination Pillayarpatti the village of Sivaganga district is located where 7th century old Karpaka Vinayaka Temple or Pillaiyarpatti Pillaiyar Temple is situated. All the major festival and activities are managed and celebrated here with great zeal in Vairavapatti.
