Borij, the small village near Gandhinagar becomes very popular for it beautiful Jain Derasar also known as Borij Tirth is dedicated to Lord Mahavir Swami and located opposite to Sector 20 and Akshardham, Gandhinagar. This historical teerth is highly sacred in Jain community where 81 inches tall and 64 inches wide idol of Shree Mahavirswami placed, made from 5 types of metals and around 16 tons of weight. This 108 feet tall, 245 feet long and 205 feet wide temple was constructed during Vikram Samvat 2053 to 2059. Along with idols of lord Mahavir Swami, various ancient idols placed in museum in the basement. It is said that around 80 years back idols of Lord Mahavirswami, Lord Parshwanathji and Lord Neminath were found from here and then Pethapur Shangh had placed idols here. After long time this huge Jain Teerth at Borij was constructed and now managed by the Vishwamaitri Dham Shree Borij Teerth Pedhi trust.
