Legend, History and facilities of Gomti Ghat
Gomati Lake is one of the biggest lake of Kheda District, which spread across 572 acres of land near the Lord Ranchhodrai Temple. It is named after the river Gomti of Dwarka. There are lots of Dharamshalas, Havelis, Bhojanalaya and other complexes to facilitate pilgrims.Devotee believed that the water of Gomati is same like water of River Ganga.
There is big local market around the lake for shopping of Puja Samagri and metal item for home use. There is a feeding point for fish at Gomati Ghat where devotee can buy and offer food to fish. There are many temples around the Gomti Ghat where devotee can reach by boat ride so children can enjoy boating as well.
Story behind creation of Gomti Lake
After the completion of battle of Mahabharat, Lord Shree Krishna and Bheem were going to attend the Yagyopavit Sanskar – Janeu of Parikshit, son of Abhimanyu at Hastinapur from Dwarka. They pass from current Gomti Ghat, once it was a big jungle. Bheem was very thirsty so he was looking for water, then Lord Shree Krishna show the small pond near Ashram of great sage DankRhishi. After drinking water, Bheem think that this pond should be big enough to satisfy the human and animal around the jungle. So Bheem strike his Gada on the land and created big lake. Thus holy Gomati Lake was created at Dakor at that time known as Dankpur near current Ranchhodrai temple.
Another important tale related Gomati Ghat is related to Vijaysingh Bodana, great devotee of Lord Shree Krishna, his wife Gangabai and idol of Lord Shree Krishna. Lord Shree Krishna came with Bodana from Dwarka at Dakor and hided in the Gomati Ghat.
