Brief About Chaumukh Temple, Palitana, Gujarat
Palitana is the one of the main Jain pilgrimage place or called Jain circuit which is famous for its Jain temples and Shrines. The Chaumukh temple is located on the Satrunjaya hills at Palitana. This is one of the highest temples and dedicated the Lord Adinath.
The Chaumukh temple was built in 1618, the idol of Lord Adinath with four images is installed here for all four fundamental auspicious directions thus this temple named as Chaumukh as Chau means four and Mukh means face. This temple has prominent significance for Jain devotees across the world. It is believed that speeches of first Tirthankar Adinath Bhagwan or Rishambhnath are mentioned in its large hall.
