The Naulakha Temple is settled in Deoghar, a district in Jharkhand. It is almost 1.5 km away from the popular Baba Baidyanath Dham Temple. The temple is named so, because its forming charged 9 lakh rupees (nine-lakhs). The temple is dedicated to Radha- Krishna. The architecture of this temple resembles with the architecture of Belur Math Ramkrishna Mission in Kolkata. Rani Charushila (the queen from Pathuria Ghat King’s family) from Kolkata, donated money for the construction of the temple. The temple is 146 feet high. The temple was completed in 1940, after 4 years of hard work. The temple is also known as Jugal Mandir as there are two idols present inside – Lord Krishna and Saint Balananda Brahmachari.
Rani Charushila lost her son Jatindra Ghsoh and husband Akshay Ghosh at a very young age. She became deeply saddened by the incident that she started feeling lonely and miserable. One day she ran away from her house and went in search for relief. When she proceeded to Karnibad (Deoghar), she met with Saint Balananda Brahmachari. Rani stopped over the ashram of Balananda Brahmachari for few days. The saint then listened to her sufferings and suggested her to build the temple to get rid of her sorrows. Rani started feeling peace after talking to Balananda. She accepted the suggestion and donated 9 lakhs rupees for the building of the temple. Later Rani Charushila accepted the followership of Saint Balananda. Charushila Devi built the shrine under saint Balananda’s instruction. She gave the leadership to construct the shrine to the well-known engineer from West Bengal, Shri Kali Das Ram. Rani Charushila built this temple in memory of her beloved son. Probably that is why there is also present an idol of the child Krishna.
The temple resembles the architecture of the Belur Math Ramkrishna Mission in Kolkata. The interior of the shrine is decorated with beautiful designs and carvings with attracts the tourists. There is a statue of the founder (Rani Charushila) at the entrance of the temple.
Naulakha Temple daily darshan time and Festival Celebration
The temple remains open from 7 am to 12 pm, and 2 pm to 7 pm every day. People can visit there in any preferable time in between. Though, the temple doors remain shut from 12 pm to 2 pm. The morning Aarti starts at 7 am.
Festivals related to Shree Krishna are mainly celebrated here. For example, Janmashtami, Holi, Guru Purnima etc. are celebrated by the people with great enthusiasm.
The temple gets decorated with lights at the time of Janmashtami. The idols get a beautiful make over. Many visitors from different parts of the state come to visit the temple.
In the time of Holi, the temple compound turns bright with the colors of the festival. Holi is celebrated as the festival of Radha-Krishna, so both the deities are ornamented beautifully on that day.

The nearby option is the Deoghar bus stop, which is about 2 km away from the temple. Another option is the Jasidih bus stop, 9 km away from the temple.
If you are traveling by train, the Deoghar railway station is also within 3 km from the shrine. The Jasidih station is at the junction in the route of Patna-Howrah-Delhi.
The Lok Nayak airport in Patna, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose international airport in Kolkata and Birsa Munda airport in Ranchi are the nearest options for flight. Though, Ranchi airport is the nearest.
