Chamunda Mataji Temple is located on top of the Chotila Dungar, on Ahmedabad – Rajkot highway in small town Chotila of Surendranagar district, Gujarat. This divine shrine is dedicated to Goddess Chamunda, the incarnation of Ma Devi Shakti, Mahakali. Goddess Chamunda is also known as Chamundeshwari, Charchika and Rakta Kali, terrifying form of Goddess Chandi, divine mother Durga.
Name of Mataji Chamunda is derived from two demon Chand and Mund, they tortured devotee of Lord and people thus Goddess Shaki killed these demon and thus this form of Ma Shakti known as Chamunda Mataji and presented head to Ma Ambe.
Chotila Mountain is around 1250 feet in height and devotee can reach Chamundama Temple by climbing around 700 steps. These steps are shaded and facilities like fan and water are arranged in between, thus devotee can easily reach to top of hill without any hurdel.

The idol of Chamundamata at temple is self manifested. There is tale behind the existence of this temple as per the folklore. Goddess came into dream of a devotee and told that she was hidden on Chotila hill. As per the instructed to dig in a certain place and idol of Goddess appeared there. This is who later on this Chamunda Mata temple was constructed at that spot.
