The temple was built in the year 2008 by Brahamleen Nagabba Shri Sevagir Ji Maharaj who wanted to construct a temple devoted to Lord Hanuman in the capital to promote and cultivate a culture stemmed from Lord Hanuman’s teachings and morality. Completed in almost 13 years, the temple architecture and aesthetics make it a must visit pilgrim sites to be explored in Delhi.
The trust that maintains the temple also offers daily prashad (food offerings). The devotees coming from far and wide take back the celebrated prashad to their homes.
The temple lies inside the colossal Hanuman statue that stands with all might and grandeur. The temple has an entrance that resembles the mouth of a demon lying in the feet of the mighty Hanuman. It is symbolic of how all the demons and vices could never stand against Lord Hanuman’s might. No demon has ever survived Lord Hanuman’s fury and had to succumb to His strength and power. The temple also has a sanctified flame that was brought from Kangra’s Jwalaji Temple in Himachal Pradesh, and is claimed to have spiritual powers to ignite positivity in one’s soul.
Idols of Lord Shani, Goddess of Dwarka and Sai Baba are also installed inside the premises, accepting devotees of all these faiths in one single complex.
The temple compound is open on all days of the week from 6 AM in the morning to 10 PM in the evening. Huge crowds are observed on Tuesdays and Saturdays, which are considered the days in which Lord Shani’s influence on human life is stronger, and therefore Lord Hanuman’s blessings are considered to heal any despair that one is facing. This is also the best time to visit as you can attend the special aarti (chants for the God).
Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated in all its glory at the temple. It turns the atmosphere of the city to a never seen experience of solace accompanied with faith. Lord Hanuman’s birth anniversary thus becomes the best birthday celebration ever in the world, with community meals served to everyone regardless of any basis of discrimination. Other festivals celebrated with such grandeur and zeal is Dussehra, Diwali, Ram Navami, and Janmashtmi.
During the evening aarti, the hands of Lord Hanuman’s statue, held across the chest move back and protrudes to give pilgrims the divine sight of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita. Their idols are placed in the statue’s heart, depicting the deep respect and affection Lord Hanuman had for them. This makes the evening aarti view even more iconic and worth attending.
