Bahucharma Temple, one of the major pilgrimage place of Gujarat is located in town Becharaji of Mahesana district near Modhera Sun temple. This temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas sites where right hand - Bahu of Ma Devi Sati was fallen down. The original shrine was constructed in time of King Sankhal Raj in 1152 and as per inscription till 18th century it remains as it is. Ma Devi Bahucharaji is worshipped here as Goddess Bala Tripura Sundari. Bahucharaji is one of the ancient place of Gujarat and devotee across the India come to seek the blessing of Goddess Bahucharaji.

As per the legend, demon Dandasur was stayed around this Bahucharaji and won all three Lokas namely Mrutyulok, Patallok and Devloka. Then all devas went to Goddess Parambaa to save them from the devil Dandasur, thus goddess take form of small girl because devil had boon from the Lord Shiva that goddess appeared against him in form of small girl. It is believed that at the Varakhadi tree, Goddess first appear in form of small girl, thus Ma known as Bala Bahuchara. Bahucharma killed demon king Dandasur with Trishul and brought peace for Gods and people on earth. It is also believed that Bahu – hand of Ma Devi Sati was fallen here at Bahucharaji Temple thus it is also popular Shakti Peetha.
Cock is the main vehicle of goddess Bahuchara. Bala Yantra made of crystal and encased in gold is worshipped here at temple. Bahuchara Mata carries a sword on her top right, a text of scriptures on her top left, the Abhay Hasta mudra on her bottom right, and a trident on her bottom left. Bahucharmata as the Goddess of Fertility, pilgrims are taken to this site for vows fulfilled and boons granted. It is also believed that if any new child who is not speaking fluently is brought here and on his behalf a Cock is donated to Mata (Goddess), in few days he starts speaking fluently.

Temple complex is divided in three parts; the original shrine is small-leafed Varakhadi tree where the goddess first appeared. Second is small adjacent of Varakhadi tree which houses carved plaque - representing the goddess. Third structure closes to the original shrine and main temple today was constructed by Gaekwad ruler in 1783. Saint Kapildev and Kalari king Tejpal had also helped in construction and renovation of the temple. Bahucharaji temple complex is intensely decorated with stone carvings and wall paintings. Southern gate of the temple is reservoir where it is believed miracle happened.
