Asheshwar Mahadev, one of the major pilgrimage site of Nand Gaon is located in Asheswar Van to the east of Nand Baag near the Nandbhavan temple, Nand Gaon, Mathura in state of Uttar Pradesh. Asheshwar Mahadev Temple is one of the five main Mahadev of Braj Bhoomi and dedicated to Lord Shiva where Lord Shiva stay with his entire family. The temple is situated in a very beautiful place surrounded by a grove of trees and known as Ashiseshwara van. Thousands of devotee visits here during the Maha Shivratri and perform Abhishek of Lord Shiva here with full of devotion. The name of this temple is derived as Asheshwar because the at this place Asha – hope of Lord Shiva himself to have Darshan of Bal Krishna was fulfilled thus Lord Shiva stay here wuth name Asheshwar Mahadev. There is small Kund near temple which is known as Asheshwar Kund. It is believed that devotee who worshipped Lord Shiva here with full of devotion then Lord fulfill all the wish of them.
Interesting legend is associated with Asheshwar Mahadev temple, during the Dwapar Yuga Lord Krishna, the eight incarnation of Supreme Lord Vishnu had taken birth and stayed at Nand Bhavan, Nand Gaon. Lord Shiva did not missed the chance to have Darshan of Bal Krishna thus he came to Nand Bhavan. But Yashoda Maiya had not allowed Lord Shiva due to the attire and yogi look. Yashoda Mata thought that such a wild looking tantric-yogi might actually frighten her little son. Then Shivji had sat down in Samadhi till his wish of Darshan was not fulfilled. Finally with the help of Puranmasi and Bal leela of Lord Krishna, Lord Shiva had Darshan of his god, bal Krishna.
It is also believed that Parjanya Maharaja, the grandfather of Lord Krishna and father of Nand Baba used to bathe here and worship Ashishwar Mahadev. As per local belief, by the blessing of Asheshwar Mahadev, Parjanya Maharaj had five son with all good quality and supreme lord Krishna as grandson.

Also you can easily find the public and private transport, auto rickshaw for the local sightseen and visit nearby Yatradham like Mathura, Vrindavan, Gokul, Jatipura, Govardhan Hill, Barsana etc.
The best time to visit Asheshwar Mahadev is between October and March when weather is pleasant and during festival like Maha Shivratri which is celebrated with great zeal.
