Nandisvara Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva is one of the key attraction of Nand Gaon, located on top of Nandisvara hill, beside the Nand Bhavan, in major pilgrimage center of Nand Gaon, Uttar Pradesh. The meaning of Nandisvara is Lord of Nandi. Nandiswara Temple is believed as one of the top most five presiding Shiv Temple of Braj Bhoomi. It is believed that Shivlinga was installed here by Vajranabha, the great grandson of Lord Krishna. Thus, it is said that Nand Gaon yatra cannot be completed without the Darshan of Nandisvara temple.

Interesting legend is associated with Nandiswar Hill, it is said that Lord Shiva had pleased Lord Krishna and asked for boon to be witnesses of his childhood pastimes. Then Lord Krishna has asked Lord Shiva to situated in Nandgaon in form of Hill. Then Lord Shiva had took the form of Hill which is later known as Nandishwar hill. Here Nandishvar means ‘the lord of Nandi’, one of the popular name of lord Shiva. Thus, the name Nandishvar is derived its existence from the Lord Shiva who is believed to reside here in the form of hill to witnesses the pastimes of Lord Krishna. Nandgaon is one of the key sub-forest or Upvans of Vrindavan where father of Nandbaba lived earlier. But later on due to torture of demons he had moved to Gokul.

Maha Shivratri festival is other main festival of Nandiswar Temple which celebrates with immense devotion by devotee for two days. On Maha Shivaratri, devotee visit this famous temple in Nandagon with their offerings and do the Abhishek with holy water of river Ganga as a part of the ritual.
