Adhya Shakti Goddess Ambaji Temple is located on Girnar hill at around 4840 steps and 3300 feet height. This temple is very important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Jains across the world. It is believed that Amabji temple Girnar Hill is the oldest and holy temple on the Girnar Hill and this is the first highest peak of Girnar as well.
Thousands of devotees visit here on every Purnima and specifically on Purnima of month Posh. It is also believed that this temple is one the 51 Shakti Peethas. The time of original temple construction is not cleared but it is believed that many times Ambaji temple was renovated.
As per the Legend, Lord Shree Vishnu had given boon to Girnar that all the gods stayed here at Girnar and named as Giri Narayana. Foot print of Jain Muni is also observed behind the Ambaji Temple so lots of Jain devotee comes here.
Rope way facility to reach to Ambaji from Girnar Taleti is completed and inaugurated by honourable Prime Minister of India Shree Narendra Modi on 24th October 2020. This is Asia’s biggest rope way and long awaited project of 130 crs for Junagadh and devotee of Hinduism and Jainism. It takes pilgrims at 2,800 ft above the hill to the Girnar Ambaji temple from Bhavnath Taleti. Initially, there will be around 30 cabins, with capacity of eight passengers each. It will take around 8 min to reach to Ambaji Temple Girnar Hill from Girnar Taleti, around 2.3 km and approximately 1,000 devotee per hour and 8000 per day can travel. In addition to this, ropeway will also provide a scenic aerial view of the lush green beauty surrounding the Girnar Mountain along with Sudarshan Lake, Datar Hill, Willingdon Dam, Junagadh City etc. Due to completion of this project, devotee and entire Junagadh area will get benefit of tourism and facilities. "Earlier, it used to take 5-7 hours to climb Girnar Ambaji Temple with around 5000 steps but now it will take only 7-8 minutes. Thus more devotees and tourists will visit Girnar hill Junagadh which is add on to existing tourism of Junagadh. It will give a boost to adventure activities and create more employment opportunities for local youths.
