Narsinh Mehta no Choro, Junagadh, Gujarat
Narsinh Mehta, the great devotee of Lord Shree Krishna was born in Talaja village of Bhavnagar district in 1409 and spent most of the life span in Junagadh. He was great poet of Gujarati language and saint of Saurashtra during 15th century but his poetry and story are famous across the India even today. Narsinh Maheta’s Bhajan “Vaishnav Jan to Ene Kahie “is most favorite in Vaishnavjan and in entire India. He had composed around 22000 Bhajan - Devotional songs. Mahatma Gandhi was also a big fan of his Bhajana.
Narsinh Mateta no Choro is located near Sukhnath Chauk in Junagadh near Gita Mandir. Idol of Damodar Raiji and Narsinh Maheta are installed at this holy spot. Apart from this, various idol of Lord Shree Krishna in form as Shamla Girdhari, Lalaji Prabhu, Madan Mohanji, Sheth Shamlaji etc are also installed here. It is also believed that Narsinh Maheta sings in Kedar Rag which is favorite of Lord Shree Krishna. It is also believed that at the time of death of Narsinh Mehta, flowers were found on this spot.
