Bharat Mata Mandir, one of the most popular and unique site of Haridwar is dedicated to mother India, thus also famed as Mother India Temple. It is top most visited place of Haridwar along with the Har Ki Pauri. This eight storeys temple of 180 feet height was constructed by Swami Satyamitranand Giri with help of Vishwa Hindu Parisadh - VHP and inaugurated by Prime Minister of India, Shrimati Indira Gandhi on 15th May 1983. This temple is located on Sapt Sarovar road, Motichur area, at just 4 km from world famous Har Ki Pauri, near River Ganga, and 7 km from Haridwar railway junction. Every floor of temple has different theme with different deities, heroes – freedom fighter, sages and legends. Elevator is installed to facilitate the tourist to reach to top floor and then you can visit each floor by using stairs. You can enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of entire Haridwar, Himalaya ranges, and river Ganga from top floor of the temple. The first floor houses the statue of Bharat Mata – Mother India, where the Goddess is holding a milk pot in one hand and stack of grain in other hand. This floor has huge India map on a raised platform.
The second floor is dedicated to freedom fighter of India, thus named as 'Shoor Mandir'
The third floor is dedicated to admiring women of Indian history, thus named as 'Matru Mandir' that represent the achievements of women like Meera Bai, Savitri and Matiri etc.
The fourth floor is dedicated to the great saint of different religion of India including Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism, thus named as 'Sant Mandir'
The fifth floor has an assembly hall, where all the practicing religions in India, history, natural beauty and excellency of all state of India, are represented in a harmonious manner on the walls.
The sixth floor is dedicated to Goddess Shakti which features different forms of Ma Devi Shakti like Durga, Parvati, Sati, Radha, Saraswati, Kali etc.
The seventh floor is dedicated to all the incarnations of the supreme Lord Vishnu.
The eighth floor is dedicated to Lord Shiva, from where you can enjoy the splendid view of the Himalayas and scenic skyline of Haridwar.
The famous sculpture artist Abanindranath Tagore had portrayed Bharat Mata as Hindu goddess with four arms, wearing robes of saffron colour, holding a book, sheaves of rice, a mala, and white cloth.
