Sri Sharadamba Temple, located in Sringeri, near Sharada Peetham and river Tunga is very popular and ancient Hindu Temple built in the 8th century. Sharadamba Temple was established along with Sharada Math by Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya, great saint and philosopher of India who had promoted Sanatan Dharm across nation. Goddess Sharadambika, the incarnation of Goddess Saraswati is the main deity in temple. Sandalwood statue of Shardamba in a standing posture was installed by Adi Shankarachaya in 8th century. Then Sri Vidyaranya 12th Jagadguru of Sharada Peetham had installed a seated gold statue of Sri Shardamba placed on on a Chakra or a wheel and holds a mala in hand during Vijayanagar Empire in the 14th century
Recently in 2014, 127 feet tall Rajagopuram entrance gate has been added in temple campus from where you enter to sacred premise of Sharadamba Temple.
Sharadamba Temple attracts the thousands of devotee during the Navaratri Festival which is celebrated with great enthusiasm.
Procession on silver and golden chariot takes place on every Friday, during Navratri and on some other special days.
