Bada Ganpati Temple or Bada Ganesh temple, located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh is one the key attraction and important pilgrimage site of city. The name of the temple derive as Bada Ganpati as temple has gigantic idol of Lord Ganesh of around 25 feet height, one of the largest idol of Lord Ganesha across the world. Materials like jaggery, soil of seven pilgrimages – Sapta Puri of Sanatan Dharma, (Ayodhya, Mathura, Haridwar, Banaras Kashi, Ujjain and Dwarka), powder of five gems also called pancharatna including Diamond, pearl, emerald, ruby and topaz, water of holy rivers, gold, silver, iron and copper used for making frame.
There are couple of legend behind the construction of temple, as per one legend in 1875 Shri Dadhich, a resident of the nearby city of Ujjain who had a vision of the Lord Ganesha in his dream. The he decided to build a gigantic idol of Lord Ganesha to get the blessing. As per other legend the temple was built around 100 year ago in 1775 by great queen Ahilyabai Holkar.
