Madhavpur Mela is arranged every year for five days starting from Ramnavami, in memory of marriage of Lord Shri Krishna and Goddess Rukmani. It is believed that after Rukmani Haran, here at Madhavpur Ghed, Lord Krishna married to Rukmani, thus Madhavpur held highly religious importance for Hinduism. Every year Madhavraiji temple trust and Madhavpur Ghed panchayat used to organize the fair but now central government and state government also involve in arrangement which makes this cultural fair at huge level with lot of additional activities. Madhavpur annual fair will becomes the symbols of east to west culture diversity and tradition. Eastern state are taking participation in this giant event as princess Rukamani was from the Vidarbh state which was ancient eastern part of India during Mahabharata time. Thousands of people visit here in Madhavpur Mela during five days and enjoy the cultural activities and tradition.
Colorful chariot is prepared for procession and idol of Lord Krishna is placed and circumnavigates the village with full of joy and festivity. The Madhavpur Mela is associated with the Mishmi tribe of Arunachal Pradesh which traces their ancestry to the legendary King Bhishmak – father of Rukmini. The festival celebrated for in memory of immortal journey of Rukmini from Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat with Lord Krishna, also entire event is mentioned in Kalika Purana.
