Sita caves or Sita Gufa or Sita Gumpha or Sita Gupha, is the place where it is believed that Goddess Sita was lived with Lord Shri Ram during their exile period. Thus it holds highly religious significant in Hinduism and attract lots of tourist and devotee around the year. It is said that Lord Shri Ram stayed with Lord Lakshman and Goddess Sita in Panchvati region currently part of Nasik city of Maharashtra, India. It is believed that this is the place from where demon king Ravana had kidnapped Sita Mata to take revenge for her sister Surpankha whose nose was cut but Lakshman. Sita cave is located on the western door of the Kalaram temple near the five Banyan trees. You can enter the cave through the narrow staircase leading into main Sita cave. You will find an idol of Sita along with Lord Rama and Lakshman. To the left, there is a cave with a Shiva Linga. 'Lakshman Rekha' drawn by Lakshman to protect Goddess Sita is located around one kilometer from the caves. You can also find the stone carved room with big stone blocked cut in shape of a small bed, Carvings on the walls of the room.
