The ancient pilgrimage shrine - Sundha Mata Temple is located on atop the Sundha Mountain in the Aravalli Range at height of 1220 m above sea level, in ancient caves, near small village Dantlavas of Raniwada tehsil, Bhinmal Sub division of Jalore district of Rajasthan. Sundha Mata is just 20 km from Bhinmal, 45 km from Mount Abu and 62 km from Jalore, district head quarter of Jalore district. It is around 900 years old temple, dedicated to Goddess Chamunda Mata and worshipped as Sundha Mata by devotee across the India and specifically of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
As per the folklore, Sundha Mata is also known as Aghateshwari as head of the goddess is worshipped here and it is said that trunk of mother Chamunda is placed in Korta and legs in Sundarla Pal –Jalore. Sundha Mata temple campus is surrounded by natural environment, lush Green Mountain, sand mountains at back side and several waterfalls etc. thus becomes the important tourist destination of Rajasthan. This region is believed to be tapo bhoomi for many sages and also the ashram of Rishi Bharadwaj was located here. It is also said that after the Battle of Haldighati, Maharana Pratap had taken refuge to Sundha Mata in his struggling day.
There are three historically significant inscriptions found in temple campus which highlight the history of the region. The temple of Sundha Mata was constructed by Dewal Pratiharas with the help of majestic Chauhans of Jalore. The first inscription is from AD 1262, which describes victory of Chauhans and the downfall of Parmaras. The second inscription is from 1326, and the third one is from 1727. The design of the pillars is resembles of those of the Dilwara Temple in Mount Abu.
A nine-day fair is held here twice a year at the time of Navratras and a large crowd of devotees gathers. More visitors come to the temple from thirteen to full moon of Shukla Paksha of every month. Also fair arranged during hindu month Kartik, Baishakh and Bhadrapada.
