Kaila Devi Temple located at small village Kailadevi of Karauli district of Rajasthan, just 23 km from Karauli and on bank of Kalisil River is dedicated to Ma Kaila devi – the incarnation of Mahayogini Maya, who tool birth as child of Yashoda and Nandbaba at Gokul. Kaila Devi Temple is one of the most popular and ancient shrine of Rajasthan where devotee and tourist across the world visit and worship Ma Devi Kaila. This historical temple and associated story with birth of Lord Shree Krishna, attracts everyone to visit here during their Rajasthan Trip. Kaila Devi is the main deity of the Yadav and Jadaun Rajput community then rulers of Karauli state.
As per the legend, the arrival of the idols of Kaila Devi has interesting story around the 11th century. It is said that Kaila Devi appeared to sage Kedargiri and told him to come for the people of this area. Then yogi took idol from Nagarkot, placed in bullock cart to save from invaders. At Karauli village, bullock cart was stopped in the mid of the hill in dense forest then statue was installed at this place and till today it remain as it is.
After this occasion, the Yaduvanshi rulers of Karauli had always blessed with boon from Ma Kaila Devi thus Ma Devi was worshipped for centuries by the local people and the rulers of Karauli. Then Maharaja Gopal Singh had laid down foundation stone of huge temple in 1723. Statue of Chamunda Ji was carry from the fort of Gagraun where it had been placed by the Khinchi ruler Mukund Das Ji in 1150 and placed with Ma Kaila devi in temple campus. Along with main deity, within temple premise there are other temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Bhairavji and Lord Shiva are located. Also huge water kund was built by Arjun Pal ji which is said to be one of the oldest and huge man made water source. Then in 19th and 20th century, temple was renovated by various ruler with modern architecture and added facilities for pilgrims.
The temple is made up of from marble and has a large courtyard also red flags planted by the devotees in one corner of temple is another attraction. These flags are offered by the devotees along with bhog Prasad every year. Devotee can take benefit to spiritual aura during evening Bhajan program – Jagran every day. Lots of devotee used to come on foot to the Kaila Devi temple, some of them also follows rigours ritual called Kanak-Dandotis, in which they cover a distance of 15 to 20 kilometres by doing successive prostrations to reach temple for worship.
Annual fair of Kaila Devi temple which takes place every year during Chaitra month attract millions of devotee around the India, specifically from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh and it is believed that Goddess Kaila Devi fulfil every wish of devotee. During both Chaitra and Asho Navratri, thousands of devotee reaches here with great devotion. Temple trust manages Dharmshala, Bhojanshala, spiritual and social activity.

The village is well connected with the major railway station of Gangapur which is connected with other cities of the country. Buses are also available to reach the temple. The nearest airport is Jaipur Airport at around 170 km.
