Birla Temple also known as Laxmi Narayana Mandir or Birla Mandir is a Hindu temple situated in Jaipur, Rajasthan-India. This temple is one of the many Birla Mandirs across the India and dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi. It is located in Jaipur’s Tilak Nagar and base of Moti Dungari Hill, fort and temple. Birla temple is popular for its marvellous architecture, built in white marble in modern design. Beautiful idols of Lord Vishnu, Goddess Laxmi and other Hindu Gods and Goddess along with delicate carving of quote of Bhagwad Geeta and Upnishan ornamented on walls attracts everyone who visit here. The temple is surrounded by lush green garden in all side with colourful flowers. The images of legendary like Zarathustra, Jesus Christ, Gautam Buddha, Confucius, Virgin Mary and Socrates are placed in Birla temple campus. The temple looks spectacular at night when it is lit up. It is also home to a beautiful museum which stores and present all of the respected Birla family’s ancestral assets.
As per the legends, Maharaja of Jaipur gave the Birla family the land for the temple for just token amount of one rupee .The temple began to build in 1977 under the direction of Ramanauj Das and Ghanshyam Birla of B.M. Birla Foundation, and works completed and opened from general public on 22nd of February in the year of 1988.
The festivals such as Diwali and janmashtmi or gokulashtmi are celebrated in the temple with great zeal when thousands of devotee visit here with true devotion. The temple gets a huge number of devotees during these Indian festivals. Tourists also think that it is the best time for visiting the temple during the winter months as this is considered to be the best time to visit the city of Jaipur. It is also recommended to visit Birla Mandir during sunset when dim sun lights falling on the white marble shrine makes the entire temple shine and look unconditionally affecting.
