Brief About Sudama Setu, Dwarka, Gujarat
Sudama Setu is a pedestrian bridge behind the Dwarkadhish Temple in Dwarka, Gujarat, India. The name Sudama Setu is combination of two words Sudama – best childhood friend and devotee of Lord Shree Krishna and Setu means bridge. This bridge over Holy Gomati River connects Jagat Mandir and Panchnad or Panchkui Tirth on the island in southeast of it in Dwarka. The island has religious as well archaeological significance thus Sudama Setu was proposed in 2005 to boost tourism on the island.
There are five sweet water wells called Panchkui located on island and associated with five Pandava brothers. Gomati river was crossed by boats till the construction of the bridge. The construction work on the 166-metre long ‘Sudama Setu’, a cable-stayed hanging pedestrian bridge over the Gomti River in Dwarka is completed now and opens for devotee which helps thousands of devotees visiting the Dwarkadheesh's Jagat Mandir and Panchnad Tirth. Devotee and tourist can enjoy many activates like camel ride, dirt bike, under water sport, scuba diving etc.
