Prasanthi Nilayam or main Ashram of Shree Sathya Sai is located in a small town Puttaparthi of Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh. The Baba was born in Puttaparthi on 23 November 1926. “Prasanthi Nilayam” which means “Abode of the Highest Peace”. The temple was built in 1944 and was inaugurated on the 24th Birthday of Baba in 1950.
The ashram brings so many visitors here as it is one of the best spiritual centre one can visit. The ashram includes the educational institute, stadium, Sport Complex, Planetarium, hospital and all the modern facilities which attracts the visitors and make their stay comfortable. The complex of the ashram is very big that it can hold up to thousands of visitors on daily basis. In the ashram there is an assembly hall where the baba used to give the Darshan to all his devotees once in a day. It is one of the best active, spiritual and life lessoning centre in India. People come here to seek peace and blessings from Baba.
Here you can observe the lots of transformations of character, revolutions in belief, curing of disease, calming of temper, discarding of hatred, salvaging of souls and reunions of hearts. This is how the sacred campus stands as the symbol of the redemption of the world through the alteration of human and fulfilling the Sai's mission of Dharmasthapana.
How to reach – Puttaparthi is well connected with the roads of the district. The state buses are easily available to reach the Ashram. The nearest Railway Station is Puttaparthi Railway Station at a distance of 8kms. The availability of the domestic flight is also available in Puttaparthi. The distance between the Airport and the Ashram is 6 kms.
