Sri Subrahmanya Swamy Temple is solely dedicated to the Lord Murugan also known as Lord Kartikeya – son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, in the middle of the town Srikalahasti, Andhra Pradesh, thus easily accessible by road. Devotee has to climb around 150 steps to reach the temple for the Darshan of the Lord Murugan. The hill on which the temple is built is called Vignanagiri. On the last day of the festival three chariots carrying idols of Lord Subrahmanya and his consorts Sri Valli and Devasena are taken outside the temple and driven through the town much like a procession. The Aadi Krithika festival concludes with Theppotsavam and Kalyanotsavam that are observed on 7th and 8th day respectively. The Major festival of Aadi Krithika holds a lot of importance for the people of the town as well as for the devotees of Lord Murugan in large numbers to participate in the various festivities.
