Lakshman Jhula the iconic tourist place and prominent landmark of Rishikesh, Uttarakhand is an iron suspension bridge over the holy river Ganga at Rishikesh. Laxman Jhula is pedestrian bridge of 450 feet in length and around 70 feet height on River Ganga which connects Pauri district and Tehri district. This Jhula offers a panoramic view of River Ganga and lots of surrounded temple of Rishikesh.
This Jhula holds a very epic history related to Ramayana time, as per Indian Mythology it is said that Lakshmana - younger brother of Lord Shree Ram had crossed the river on a jute rope and then the bridge was built in honor of Lakshama. There are number of temples like Trayambakeshwar temple, Lakshman temple, Sachha Akhileshwar Mahadev temple etc. near Laksham Jhula where the tourist loved to watch this fascinating view. As of July 20, 2019, this bridge is restricted to pedestrian access and it set to be closed permanently for two wheelers and the replacement bridge is built parallel to it.
