Vasuki Tal or Vasuki Tall is a glacial lake located at the height of 14,200 feet above the sea level in Kedarnath Dham Uttarakhand. According to Hindu mythology, it is said that Supreme Lord Shree Vishnu had bathed in this lake on a festival of Rakshabandhan. The Vasuki Tal is so named as the Lake shape resembles of the Vasuki Snake coiled around the Lord Shiva. The whole Lake can be visualized from Chaukhamba Peak. The Vasuki Tal is 7 kms from Kedarnath to the top of the Himalayan Range and 24 kms from the nearest road of Gauri kund. The starting route for 2-3kms is very plain trek so it gets easier to climb but after that it becomes a bit tough for the one who are experiencing first time trekking in their life.
The Vasuki Tal is surrounded by the mountains and the visitors feel heaven on the earth. Most of the visitors are the ones who love to watch nature and they feel paradise here. The water of the lake is clear crystal blue, one can see the surface of the lake. There are rich varieties of flora found near Vasuki Tal having the medicinal properties and the Brahma Kamal is also seen here.
The trek from Gauri kund is also mesmerizing, the trek is covered with the Lush greenery, mountains and set an amazing adrenaline high feeling to the ones who loves to trek around Uttarakhand. During winter the lake is completely frozen and it is strictly prohibited for trekking during those days.
Best time to visit- you can visit during the pleasant atmosphere during summer months or during the spring Sept-Oct. The Lake gets completely freeze during winter and in the monsoon it not safe to trek on those adventurous areas.
