Vijay Vilas Palace, one of the most beautiful and till date very well maintained Palace of Gujarat is located near Mandavi Beach in Mandavi, Kutch, Gujarat. This is most and must visited place of Kutch thus every tourist visit this palace during their visit of Kutch or Rannotsav – Festival in white desert of Kutch near Dhordo village, the annual celebration arranged by Gujarat Government to highlight the traditional culture of Kutch and beauty of this region. This heritage palace was built during the rule of Maharai Khengarji III in 1920 for his son Vijayraj, thus named as Vijay Vilas Palace. This palace mainly used in summer home for royal family was built in red sandstones in Rajput Architecture style by workers and artist across the India. Carved stone works of Jharokas, Chhatris, colored glass window lot of other stone carvings, hunting trophy, paintings, Museum etc. are the key attraction of Vijay Vilas Palace. This palace has 2 km long private beach and sanctuary for blue bulls, Chinkara, Jackals and around the palace tourist can see the peacocks and other bird. Shooting of many Hindi and Gujarati movie held here in palace and specifically after the block buster movie – Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, this palace becomes the top tourist attraction in Kutch, Gujarat. Now the royal family of Kutch live permanently in this palace after the earthquake in 2001.
