As mentioned in the holy Text Bhagwad Purana, there are five most sacred Lakes or Sarovar or Pond located in various regions. These are Man Sarovar, Bindu Sarovar, Narayana Sarovar , Pampa Sarovar and Pushkar Sarovar, collectively known as Panch Sarovar. These five Sarovar attracts thousands of devotee to visit here throughout the year as it has vital importance in terms of religious, social and cultural.
History and Significance of Bindu Sarovar, Siddhpur in Hinduism
Siddhpur is famous as a Siddha Kshetra or Siddh Sthal, mentioned in Rugveda and Maha Bharat as well. It is believed that in the ancient time, there were many Rishi’s Ashram situated on the banks of the river Saraswat at Siddhpur. This ancient town is Taluka place of Patan district of Gujarat and around 115 km from Ahmedabad.
Bindu Sarovar is located in the ancient sacred city Siddhpur along with holy River Saraswati. It is believed, Lord Parshuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu did the Pin Daan ceremony of his mother at Bindu Sarovar. From this time this holy spot attracts lots of pilgrims from all over the India here to perform last rites ceremony of their mother. Thus Bindu Sarovar becomes popular for Matru Shradh or Matru Gaya across the India.
Great Saint Kapilmuni, believed to be incarnation of Lord Vishun was son of Saint Maharshi Kardam and Mata Devhuti. It is believed that Kardam Muni’s Ashram was located on the bank of River Saraswati at Bindu Sarovar. Saint Kardam Muni performed rigors penance at Bindu Sarovar for around 10000 years.
This lake is believed to be center of Holy River Ganga and Saraswati. Kapil Muni explained the wisdom of Sankhya Yoga to her mother Devahuti. This includes the explanation on Param Atma, supreme soul, characteristics of nature, devotion, mind, karma, eternal salvation etc. With this detailed understanding of core topic of human life, ma Devhuti was able to realize supreme lord within. It is believed that she converted herself in Holy River named Gyanavapi where lots of saints and god bathed for purification.
This became the major pilgrimage and currently known as Siddhpur. As at this place ma Devhuti received the ultimate goal of life – salvation, thus this place become famous as Matru Shradh and thousands of people across the India visit here to perform rituals behind their mother in the holy month Kartik, Chaitra and Bhadra.

Shree Mahaprabhuji visited here, took holy bath and started Shreemad Bhagwad Puran. Thus this is became the 72nd Bethakji of Shree Maha Prabhuji, located near Bindu Sarovar at Siddhpur.
