As per the myth, long years back, two demon king Chand and Mund stayed here and people were suffering a lot from them. People decided to pray Ma Chandika and asked for relief from torture of demon king. Ma Chandika killed this demon king at this place and thus this place became famous Chandipur, currently named as Chanod.
