Utkanteshwar Mahadev, near Kapadvanj, Kheda District, Gujarat
Utkanteshwar Mahadev temple is situated on the bank of River Vatrak and on Gandhinagar – Kapadvanj road near Fuljina Muvada in Kheda district. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is believed that the Shivlinga is around 2000 years old. It has been said that this temple was an Ashram of sage Jabali Rishi who pleased Lord Shiva with his rigours penance.
Here Shivlinga is small ball shaped and it is also said that there were seven Shivlinga in past but now only one is remaining here at Utkanteshwar Temple. There are around 25 small Shiva shrine and stairway with 108 steps leading to Vatrak. It is also believed that water and milk offered to Shivlinga go underground and meets to Vatrak River.
Lots of devotee and tourist visit here during Shravan Month and Maha Shivratri fair. Devotee can enjoy camel rides at Vatrak River near temple. Utkanteshwar Mahadev is also popular as Untadiya Mahadev in local area.
