History and Architecture of Shiva Temple at Polo Forest
Vijaynagar forest also popular as Polo forest is dense forest near Abhapur village, 13 KM from Vijaynagar and around 44 KM from Idar in Sabarkantha district. Shiva temple is located in the dense Polo Forest and dedicated to Lord Shiva. Polo forest is situated at the foot of the Arvalli Range and on the bank of River Harnav and spread over around 400 sq KM. Most of the parts of temples are damaged but yet consider as major shiva temple in surrounded area because of its design, carving on wall and statues.

Sharneshwar Shiva temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located at Abhapur built in 15th century. This is three stored temple, with Garbh gruh, Nandi Mandap, Antrala, Yagya Kund etc. Design and carving on wall are post Chaulukya style.
Best time to Visit Polo Forest
The best time to visit Shiva temple and Polo forest for devotee and tourist is monsoon, during September to December. The surrounded area becomes too green and with full of water and springs. Lots of migrated birds and various animals attracts tourist during winter and monsoon. Also Gujarat Government organizes Polo festival every year to attract tourist.
