Swaminarayana Mandir at Vadtal in Kheda district is one of the main Gadi or Head Quarter of Swaminaraya Sampraday, a well knonw sect of Hinduism in Gujarat and now growing fast across the world with lots of temples and followers. Lord Shree Swaminarayan had established dual Acharyaship in Dharmavanshi Acharyas, his successor of Swaminarayana Sampraday on Prabodhini Ekadashi of Vikram Samvat 1882 at Vadtal. Acharya Maharajshree Ayodhyaprasad Pande and Acharya Maharajshree Raghuvir Pande, sons of his brothers Rampratapji and Ichcharamji were selected as the spiritual leaders of the Nar Narayan Dev Gadi headquartered at Kalupur, Ahmedabad and the Laxmi Narayan Dev Gadi headquartered at Vadtal respectively.

This is how Vadtal a small town of Gujarat becomes VadtalDham and popular across the world for devotee of Shree Swaminarayana Bhagwan. This temple complex has three main shrines, central shrine of Shri LaxmiNarayan Dev, second is of Shri Radha Krishna accompanied with Shri HariKrishna Maharaj and third one is of Shri Vasudev, Shri Dharmapita and Bhaktimata. The temple was constructed under the guidance of Shree Brahmanand Swami. These idols in the temple were installed by Bhagwan Swaminarayan him self on 3rd November 1824.

Apart from the three main shrine, temple complex comprise of Hari Mandap - residence of Shree Hari, Akshar Bhuvan where garments, ornaments, footprints etc called “Prasadi ni Vastuo“of Lord Swaminarayan are stored, Sabha Mandap where Lord Swaminarayan hold devotee's meeting, Shree Gyan Baug where Lord Swaminarayana organized festival celebration.

Vadtaladham is full of sacred place, apart from swaminarayana temple, Dharu Lake also called Gomatiji which was built by Aksharanand swami where Shree Hari, saints and devotees had taken bath many times. Othere sacred place are Shree Ghela Hanumanji, Vadeu Mata temple, temple of 64 Jogani Mata, Khodiyar Mata temple and Kedareshwar Mahadev Temple.
