Legend and Architecture of Bhammariyo Kuvo, Mahemdavad
Bhammariyo Kuvo – well an ancient well with seven floors below ground was constructed by King Mahmud Begada in around end of 14th century. Each floor has different architecture and currently four to seven floor are filled so tourist can visit up to top three floors. This is extra ordinary well and only one in Gujarat of this type, built up with planned room and staircase. It is also believed that during summer, it is quite cool inside the well with notable temperature difference.
As per the famous myth about the well is, Mahmud Begda was given a small dose of toxin daily by his mother to improve his immunity system. Thus Mahmud Begada built a swing in this well with the water level up to his neck, to reduce the heat of side effects poison. This practice was followed to prevent King from poison attack from the enemies.
