Legend of Shabari Dham at Subir, Dang, Gujarat
Shabari Dham is located at small village Subir of district Dang, Gujarat and around 30 KM from Ahwa and 70 KM from Saputara on Ahwa – Navapura road. It is believed that Lord Shree Ram met Ma Shabari at this place during the search of Ma Devi Sita. Shabari was great devotee of Lord Shree Ram and she had waited for Shree Ram from long year at her Guru’s Ashram as per advice of her spiritual guru.
Ma Shabari had collected wild fruits- Ber for Shree Rama, in order to source the best ones; she would bite them and check before offering them to the Lord with great devotion. Lord Shree Ram accepted fruit with love and her innocent devotion pleased the Lord. Three stone on which Lord Shree Ram, Laxman and Shabri were sat at this place are worshipped here. Pampa Sarovar is around 10 km away from Shabari Dham where the story of Lord Shree Ram Bathing is attached.
This place is surrounded by dense forest and also known as Dand Karanya where Lord Shree Ram, Ma Devi Sita and Laxman were passed during their 14 years of vanvas - exile. Lord Shree Ram was in search of Ma Devi Sita and came to know about key information from Ma Shabari.
Shabari Dham is constructed in quite large area and dedicated to Shabari Mata. As this sacred place is on high with surrounding with mountains, forest, nearby holy Pampa Sarovar and well maintained, so it becomes famous for picnic spot. Facilities like Accommodation and food are also available at Shabari Dham.
