Chintamani Jain temple is one of the oldest temples located in Moraji Nagar area of Surat. It was built during end of 17th century uder the reign of Mughal King Aurangzeb. It looks simple from out side but once you enter into the temple, its simply amazing design and wooden carving. King Kumarpal was the King of Solanki dynasty and Acharya Hemachandraji was his advisor. The Acharya was a Jain poet and philosopher and under the rule of Kumarpal prosperity of his kingdom was on top thus it is believed that Chintamani temple constructed in honour of these great people.
Vegetable dye paintings of Acharya Hemchandra and king Kumarpala on the wooden pillar are key attraction of temple. London Museum also houses a sandalwood replica of it showcase the popularity of Chintamani Jain Temple. Apart from religious place of worship, this Jain temple is also a specimen of the Indian ancient art.
