History of GaulokDham also known as Dehotsarg, Somnath
Gaulokdham or Dehotsarg is the place around 1 KM from Somnath Temple, where Lord shree Krishna has leave behind his foot print for all of us . There are some other temples like laxminarayana temple, Gita Mandir, Baldevjini Gufa, Mahaprabhuji Bethak etc. This place is on the bank of Hiranya near Triveni Sangam , the confluence of the river Saraswati, Hiran and Kapila.
Lord Shree Krishna was shot in the foot by a Bhil hunter named Jara mistaken where he lied down under Pipal tree. In previous birth, hunter Jara was Vanar King Vali and Lord Shree Ram hidden behind the tree, shot down Vali during the battle between Vali and Sugriv. While King Vali asked the reason behind this action then Lord Shree Ram benefice the boon that in the Dwapar Yug, you will take birth as Jara and I as Shree Krishna. I will be shot down by you in a same way as today I killed you.
The site where Lord Shree Krishna was shot is known as Bhalka Tirtha. Lord Shri Krishna reached the bank of the river Hiranya just above the triveni sangam and breathed his last at this spot. Arjuna and Uddhava, best friends of Lord Shree Krishna took Shree Krishna’s body to the Triveni Sangam and cremated there. Lord Krishna took his journey to Nija Dham- Vaikuntha or Gaulok from Dehotsarg Teerth leaving behind his mortal body, hence also called as Golak Dham Teerth.
