History, Importance, Facilities and Activities of Bhadrakali Temple, Ahmedabad, Gujarat
Bhadrakali temple is believed to be one of the oldest temple of Ahmedabad and located inside Bhadra Fort in center of city.The exact date of construction is not known but as per the evidence this holy shrine existed at least for more than 800 years. This shrine is dedicated to goddess Bhadrakali and believed as Nagar Devi of Ahmedabad. It is believed that Karndev, King of Patan and founder of Karnavati on bank of River Sabarmati, had established the Bhadrakali temple.
Thus this temple is witness of Mogal rule, Maratha rule, British rule and till date stand as rajdevi of Ahmedabad. Everyday around 3 thousand devotee and tourist visit this holy shrine and many more during the festival, weekends and especially during Navratri . Temple trust manages various social and religious activities like school, medical camp, gaushala, Shree Rambali hall for marriage ceremony etc.As per the Hindu texts, terrible demon king Mahisasur could not vanished by God or man due to power of boon. Thus only women can killed this demon, Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh bestowed supreme power to Ma Devi Parvati and transforming her in form of Bhadrkali, the goddess of warrior. Every god gave their powerfull weapon to Ma Bhadrakali. Then Ma Bhadrakali defeated demon king and restored peace for all.
