Bethakji is the sacred site for the followers of the Pushtimarg tradition of the Vaishnava Sampradaya. These sacred places are related to Vallabhacharyaji – Mabhaprabhuji who lived in 15th century, the founder of Pushtimarg and his descendants. There are total 142 Bethakji are consider as the sacred out of 84 of Shree Mahaprabhuji, 28 of his son Viththalanath Gusainji and 30 of his seven grandsons. Naroda Bethakji is one of the 84 Bethakji of Shree Mahaprabhuji.

Shri Vallabhacharyaji Mahaprabhuji stayed at the home of Gopaldas in Naroda, Ahmedabad. During the discourses on Shrimad Bhagavat, Shri Mahaprabhuji offered knowledge of Shri Krishna and Shri Natahji to Gopaldas. He was also initiated into Pushti Marg then. Shri Mahaprabhuji also gave him Shri Krishna deity to serve. Gopaldasji remained in transcendental bliss always singing the glories of Guru Shri Vallabhacharya Mahaprabhuji and Lord Shree Krishna. Gopaldas has composed many Kirtans and devotional songs in honor of Shri Mahaprabhuji and Lord Shree Krishna. He was allowed to give Ashtakshar Mantra - Shri Krishna Sharanam Mam to Vaishnavas.
