As name suggest, SahastraLinga Talav, lake of thousand Shivlinga was built by king Siddhraj Jaysinh in 1084. This human made tank is located on north west part of Patan on bank of sacred river Saraswati and around 1 Km from Rani ki Vav. This lake is now maintained by Archaeological Survey of India and one of the most prominent spot of heritage city Patan, Gujarat. Original lake was known as Durlabh Sarovar and built by King Durlabhray. Sahastralinga Talav is pentagonal in shape, one km broad and spans over an area of about 17 hectares. King Siddhraj Jaysinh had built many artificial tanks in different parts of Gujarat during his rule but Sahasralinga Talav is excellent in terms of technologically, artistically, and spiritually and it is said that the lake had inbuilt natural filtration of water of river Saraswati.
