Swaminarayana temple of Bhuj is one of the six shrine which were constructed by Lord Shree Swaminarayan himself, located near Kutch Museum and Hamisar lake. Thus this huge, magnificent, excellent in terms of architecture and beautiful temple is highly sacred for millions of follower of Swaminarayana sampraday across the world. Lord Swaminarayana had spent around 7 years of his life in Kutch out of around 30 years in Gujarat. The original shrine was built in 1822 by Lord Swaminayarana and renovated after Gujarat earthquake in 2001. Most part of Kutch including Bhuj was destroyed in this heavy earthquake, this also destroyed sides of temple but idols and main shrine stand as it is miraculously. Then construction of new temple was started in 2003 and it takes 7 years to complete. This temple spread across 35,000 sq. feet area and built with 218 pillars, marble from Ambaji and Makarana are used, 7 pinnacles, huge central dome surrounded by 25 minor dome. Around 64 idols are installed in whole temple complex, Golden Kalash placed on top of dome. Along with this saint nivas, huge Vishranti Bhuvan – accommodation for devotee and traveller, Bhojanalaya, huge Sabha Mandap are part of temple complex to facilitate everyone. Swaminarayana temple of Bhuj is fall down under the Kalupur Gadi of Ahmedabad.
