Purpose: Jagannath Rathyatra is annual festival held on Ashadh Sud Beej, and this year Ahmedabad is celebrating 145th Rathyatra with full of joy after two year of pandemic time.

Rathyatra, the very special chariot festival held every year of Ashadh Sud Beej across the world and millions of devotee celebrates with full of joy and devotion. The idols of Lord Jagannathji, Lord Balaramji and their sister Subhadraji are placed on colorful chariot - Raths and pulled by devotees. It is believed that whole year we people as devotees going to temple for praying god but at the day of Rath Yatra all three deity coming out from their temple to see and blessed us.

Rathyatra is celebrated in lots of cities across the world and the world famous is Rathyatra of Jagannath Puri. In Gujarat, Rathyatra observed in several cities like Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Bhavnagar, Surat, Porbandar etc. But the Rathyatra of Ahmedabad is very special and relatively held at massive level. This year Ahmedabad is celebrating the 145th Rathyatra and all arrangement are set up with following covid protocols. This year more than 2000 saint across the India will join the Rathyatra in Ahmedabad, 30 Akhada, 18 Bhajan Mandali, 101 trucks presenting Indian Culture and 18 elephants are also take participation in Rathyatra celebration.

The schedule of Ahmedabad Rathyatra is as below.

Jagannat Temple, Ahmedabad is celebrating this festival for three days, 29, 30 and 1 July, 2022

On 29th June, Idols of Lord will bring back to Jagannath Temple premise from their uncles’ house which followed by various rituals like Netrotsav, Dhwajarohan and Bhandara.

on 30th June, Pujan archan of all three Rath is arranged followed by Maha Aarti.

And, finally, the most awaited day, Rathyatra, 2022, 01 July after two year of Pandemic time, when Mangala Aarti held at 4 AM followed Bhog of Khichada and then Rathyatra starts at 7 AM. As per the root and schedule, Rathyatra will be followed with full security and come back to Jagannath Temple at around 8 PM.
